Fares and road notes on this page reviewed July 30, 2026.

Eight hundred and eighty kilometres is not a day in a car, whatever a distance calculator tells you. The mapping sites quote eleven hours; that figure assumes no meals, no fuel stops, no toilet breaks for six people and no Delhi. The real number with a family aboard is fourteen to fifteen hours of elapsed time, which is why we quote this as two days with a night at Jaipur or Delhi and arrive in Haridwar with everyone still willing to start a yatra the next morning. What most Jodhpur groups actually book is not this leg at all but the whole circuit — one vehicle and one driver from Jodhpur, through the four dhams, and home again.

The road

Where you actually stop

Via: Jodhpur → Ajmer → Jaipur → Alwar → Gurugram → Delhi → Meerut → Muzaffarnagar → Roorkee → Haridwar
Ajmer and Pushkar

Two hours out, and a natural first halt if the group wants the dargah or the Brahma temple.

Jaipur

The usual first night. Roughly a third of the way, and the last place with a real choice of hotels until Delhi.

Gurugram and the Delhi ring

Skirted rather than driven through. This is where the second day is won or lost.

Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee

The last stretch on NH-334, and the point the Shivaliks appear.

From our drivers: If the Char Dham is the reason for this drive, book the whole thing as one circuit rather than as a transfer plus a yatra. It works out cheaper, and it means the vehicle carrying your luggage on day one is the same one carrying it on day twelve.
Before you book

Rules on this run

The Jodhpur–Haridwar run stays in the plains, so the hill-route paperwork does not apply. What is worth knowing before you book:

Plains runs are a different job

Nothing above the valleys applies on this stretch — no Green Card, no night-driving ban, no yatra registration. It is an expressway run, so the variables that matter are toll charges, which are included, and the pickup window you choose.

The fleet

The vehicle for the Jodhpur–Haridwar run

Jodhpur to Haridwar stays on plains road the whole way, so the Ertiga or a sedan is usually the sensible booking — the surface never asks for more vehicle than that. All four are available.

Cancellation, in plain terms

Cancel free up to 48 hours before pickup.

Plans change, and a 2 days mountain drive is the kind of thing weather rearranges. The Jodhpur–Haridwar booking runs on the same terms as every other cab we send out.

We do not take payment online. Most bookings run on a small advance over UPI and the balance to the driver at the end of the trip, so there is rarely anything to refund. Full cancellation terms.

Six days, all four dhams. One flight was held two hours for cloud at Kedarnath, which is nobody’s fault, and the team kept us updated and rebuilt the next day’s schedule to make it up. Four stars only because the Dehradun hotel on night one was the weakest link.

Solo woman traveller and I was honestly nervous. They put me with a small group of other solo pilgrims and a guide who checked in without hovering. Guptkashi hotel was clean and warm, food was simple and good. Going back for Badrinath next season.

Booked after comparing four operators. What sold me was that the person who answered the phone was the person who ran the trip. Hotels, vehicle and darshan slots were exactly as quoted. The Kedarnath trek support was the strongest part — our guide walked at my father’s pace the whole way and never once made it feel like a problem.
