🗓️ Last updated: May 30, 2026
The Char Dham Helicopter Package is for pilgrims who want to complete all four sacred dhams — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath — in maximum comfort, minimum time, and with VIP darshan at every shrine. You fly by helicopter between each dham. No long mountain drives. No queues. Luxury hotels at every stop.
This package is popular with senior pilgrims, corporate executives, and families where members have medical conditions that make mountain travel difficult. Char Dham Helicopter — Practical Rules 2026
🏛️ DGCA-Approved Operators Only
All Char Dham helicopter services must be DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) certified. We only coordinate with licensed operators — verify DGCA certification before booking any heli package. Many online portals use unlicensed resellers.
🎒 5 kg Luggage Limit — Strictly Enforced
Each helicopter passenger is allowed maximum 5 kg of luggage. This is strictly weighed and enforced at the helipad. Excess baggage is offloaded. Pack light: 2–3 days of warm clothes, medicines, documents. Ground luggage transfer arrangements can be made for larger bags.
⛅ Weather Buffer Day — Essential
Helicopter operations in the Himalayas are entirely weather-dependent. Morning fog, cloud cover, or winds at altitude can ground all flights for a full day. Every itinerary should include at least one buffer day — we build this into our 5N/6D structure. Book return flights one day after the scheduled end of the package.
💰 Price Transparency — No Surprise Extras
Full Char Dham helicopter packages in 2026 range from ₹2.1 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh per person from established operators (helicopter transfer + hotel + meals + VIP darshan). Budget options starting at ₹85,000 cover ground arrangements only — helicopter ticket must be booked separately via IRCTC. We are transparent about what each tier includes.

Best months for Char Dham helicopter: May–June for clear skies and full season. But September is genuinely underrated — fewer bookings, post-monsoon crystal visibility, cooler temperatures, and helicopter slots available on shorter notice. October works too but temple closing dates loom. Avoid July–August: monsoon grounds helicopters frequently.
Important 2026 rule: Kedarnath helicopter bookings at helipads are being eliminated. All bookings must be via irctc.co.in. Walk-in bookings are no longer accepted. Shiv Ganga Travels assists all pilgrims with IRCTC helicopter booking — included in our packages at no extra charge.

Usually 5 nights / 6 days, covering all four dhams from Dehradun — one night in Dehradun and a night near each dham. Compared with 10–12 days by road, it's the fastest way to complete the circuit.
From Sahastradhara Helipad in Dehradun. The route flies to Kharsali (Yamunotri), Harsil (Gangotri), Phata/Sersi (Kedarnath) and Badrinath helipad, with assisted transfers to each temple.
Yes — it's the most senior-friendly option. It removes the long drives and most of the trekking (a short walk or pony at Yamunotri/Kedarnath remains), and includes VIP darshan to avoid long queues. It suits elderly pilgrims, NRIs and anyone short on time.
Slots are limited and weather-dependent. Book early through an authorised operator; biometric registration, valid ID and actual passenger weight are mandatory for heli bookings. Keep buffer days in your plan in case fog or wind delays a flight.
