Fares and road notes on this page reviewed July 30, 2026.

From Noida the sensible road north is the Delhi–Meerut Expressway rather than the newer Dehradun alignment — you are already east of the Yamuna, and doubling back through Delhi to reach the Akshardham entry costs more time than the expressway saves. So this is the older, more familiar route: Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Roorkee, Dehradun, then the climb. Slightly longer on paper than the Delhi run, usually about the same in practice, because you skip the worst of the capital.

The road

Where you actually stop

Via: Noida → Delhi–Meerut Expressway → Meerut → Muzaffarnagar → Roorkee → Dehradun → Mussoorie
Delhi–Meerut Expressway

On it within twenty minutes of pickup from most of Noida.

Muzaffarnagar

The standard breakfast halt on NH-334.

Roorkee

Fuel, tea, and the first sight of the Shivaliks.

Dehradun

The bottom of the climb, and the last fuel before the hill.

Kempty turn and Library Chowk

The two ends of Mussoorie, 6 km apart.

From our drivers: Leave before 7 AM. The Delhi–Meerut Expressway is genuinely fast, but the Noida approach roads to it are not, and an hour lost getting on to it at 9 AM is an hour you never get back.

Rules of the road up here

Hill routes in Uttarakhand run on rules that catch first-time visitors out. None of these are ours — they are the administration's, and they shape how the trip has to be planned.

Mountain roads, not highway hours

This is a hill run outside the Char Dham corridor, so none of the yatra paperwork applies. What does apply is arithmetic: average speed on these roads is 25–30 km/h, not the 60 a map will assume, and the last stretch is single-lane in places. We quote the honest driving time rather than the optimistic one.

The fleet

The vehicle for the Noida–Mussoorie run

Noida to Mussoorie stays on plains road the whole way, so the Ertiga or a sedan is usually the sensible booking — the surface never asks for more vehicle than that. All four are available.

Cancellation, in plain terms

Cancel free up to 48 hours before pickup.

Plans change, and a 7–8 hrs mountain drive is the kind of thing weather rearranges. The Noida–Mussoorie booking runs on the same terms as every other cab we send out.

We do not take payment online. Most bookings run on a small advance over UPI and the balance to the driver at the end of the trip, so there is rarely anything to refund. Full cancellation terms.

Eight of us, including my parents at 72 and 69. Palki was arranged for both at Kedarnath without any fuss. Ramesh bhai, our driver, was calm on roads that frightened me and knew every tea stop worth stopping at. Ground-floor rooms at every hotel, as promised.

The price I was quoted in February was the price I paid in May. After what I read about agent markups, that alone was worth it. Badrinath darshan was handled well and Tapt Kund before the 4:30 AM slot was something I will remember for a long time.

Three generations travelling together, and the pacing was right for all of us. Oxygen was on the vehicle and we needed it once, at Kedarnath, and it was there in under a minute. They arranged proper Tamil vegetarian food at two hotels on request, which I did not expect this far north.
