Cab service in Sonprayag
Outstation taxi hire from Sonprayag — where we pick up, what each route costs, and who is driving.

Fares and road notes on this page reviewed July 30, 2026.
Sonprayag is where the Kedarnath trek spits you out, and the state most people are in when they get there is not one for negotiating. You have come down 16 km on foot or by pony, taken the shuttle from Gaurikund, and it is usually mid-afternoon. This is the single worst moment on the whole circuit to be looking for a car — which is exactly why the fares quoted at the Sonprayag barrier on a busy day bear no relation to the fares quoted anywhere else. A pre-booked downhill drop from here costs what it costs, and the driver is holding your luggage in the parking already.
Pickup points in Sonprayag
All included in the fare. No airport surcharge, no station surcharge, no 'outside city limits' line item.
Where the Gaurikund jeeps drop you, and where your vehicle waits. If we drove you up, this is the same car and the same driver with your bags in it.
Two km below, and where the overflow parking sits in peak weeks. We will meet you here if the barrier area is jammed.
We cannot drive up to it — no private vehicle can — but if you are booking from Gaurikund we time the pickup to the shuttle you catch.
Thirty km down, and the pickup point if you have come off the mountain late and slept there first.

Rules of the road up here
This is a hill run outside the Char Dham corridor, so none of the yatra paperwork applies. What does apply is arithmetic: average speed on these roads is 25–30 km/h, not the 60 a map will assume, and the last stretch is single-lane in places. We quote the honest driving time rather than the optimistic one.
Cancellation, in plain terms
Plans change, and mountain weather rearranges them more than most. Bookings to and from Sonprayag run on the same terms as every other cab we send out.
We do not take payment online. Most bookings run on a small advance over UPI and the balance to the driver at the end of the trip, so there is rarely anything to refund. Full cancellation terms.
What our passengers say
The price I was quoted in February was the price I paid in May. After what I read about agent markups, that alone was worth it. Badrinath darshan was handled well and Tapt Kund before the 4:30 AM slot was something I will remember for a long time.
Three generations travelling together, and the pacing was right for all of us. Oxygen was on the vehicle and we needed it once, at Kedarnath, and it was there in under a minute. They arranged proper Tamil vegetarian food at two hotels on request, which I did not expect this far north.
Six days, all four dhams. One flight was held two hours for cloud at Kedarnath, which is nobody’s fault, and the team kept us updated and rebuilt the next day’s schedule to make it up. Four stars only because the Dehradun hotel on night one was the weakest link.
