Fares and road notes on this page reviewed July 30, 2026.

Like every Delhi run out of the high country, this is two days, and the reason is the same: 445 km with the first half on mountain road, into a hill movement ban between 10 PM and 4 AM. What makes it worth spelling out here is that people finishing Kedarnath are frequently on a tight return — a flight booked before they knew how the trek would go. The plan that works is Sonprayag to Haridwar or Rishikesh on day one, sleep, and an easy four to six hours down the expressway on day two, reaching Delhi with the morning still ahead of you.

The road

Where you actually stop

Via: Sonprayag → Guptkashi → Rudraprayag → Devprayag → Rishikesh → Haridwar → Muzaffarnagar → Meerut → Delhi
Guptkashi

Thirty km down, and the alternative day-one halt if you came off the mountain late.

Rudraprayag

Where the Kedarnath valley ends.

Devprayag

The Ganga begins.

Haridwar or Rishikesh

Night one. Both are on the road and both have the beds.

Muzaffarnagar and Meerut

Day two, and quick.

From our drivers: Leave a clear day between reaching Delhi and any flight. Trek days slip, weather closes the shuttle, and the Kedarnath valley road takes landslide closures every season — none of which is unusual, and all of which costs hours.

Rules of the road up here

Hill routes in Uttarakhand run on rules that catch first-time visitors out. None of these are ours — they are the administration's, and they shape how the trip has to be planned.

Mountain roads, not highway hours

This is a hill run outside the Char Dham corridor, so none of the yatra paperwork applies. What does apply is arithmetic: average speed on these roads is 25–30 km/h, not the 60 a map will assume, and the last stretch is single-lane in places. We quote the honest driving time rather than the optimistic one.

The fleet

The vehicle for the Sonprayag–Delhi run

Cancellation, in plain terms

Cancel free up to 48 hours before pickup.

Plans change, and a 13–14 hrs mountain drive is the kind of thing weather rearranges. The Sonprayag–Delhi booking runs on the same terms as every other cab we send out.

We do not take payment online. Most bookings run on a small advance over UPI and the balance to the driver at the end of the trip, so there is rarely anything to refund. Full cancellation terms.

The price I was quoted in February was the price I paid in May. After what I read about agent markups, that alone was worth it. Badrinath darshan was handled well and Tapt Kund before the 4:30 AM slot was something I will remember for a long time.

Three generations travelling together, and the pacing was right for all of us. Oxygen was on the vehicle and we needed it once, at Kedarnath, and it was there in under a minute. They arranged proper Tamil vegetarian food at two hotels on request, which I did not expect this far north.

Dr. Ganesh IyerChennai · Char Dham 11N/12D · June 2026 Verified traveller

Six days, all four dhams. One flight was held two hours for cloud at Kedarnath, which is nobody’s fault, and the team kept us updated and rebuilt the next day’s schedule to make it up. Four stars only because the Dehradun hotel on night one was the weakest link.
