🗺️ Day-by-Day Itinerary
Haridwar – Uttarkashi (175 km | 6 hrs)
Depart Haridwar at 6 AM. Drive via Rishikesh, Tehri Dam (Asia's highest earthfill dam — 260m), Chamba, Dharali to Uttarkashi. Visit the ancient Vishwanath Temple and Shakti Devi Temple in Uttarkashi. Walk along the Bhagirathi river ghat. Check in. Overnight Uttarkashi.
Uttarkashi – Gangotri Darshan – Harsil – Uttarkashi
5 AM drive to Gangotri (100 km) through the scenic Harsil valley — one of India's most beautiful valleys, with silver birch and cedar forests and crystal-clear Bhagirathi. Arrive at Gangotri temple (3,415m). Perform the Asthapadhi Snana (holy dip) in the icy Bhagirathi — this is believed to be the earthly origin of Goddess Ganga. Visit Gangotri temple, Bhagirath Shila (where King Bhagirath meditated), Suryakund, and Brahma Kund. Attend morning and evening aarti. Optional: 3 km walk toward Gaumukh glacier starting point. Return via Harsil (quick stop for apple and walnut products). Overnight Uttarkashi.
Uttarkashi – Devprayag – Rishikesh – Haridwar
Morning drive via Tehri and Devprayag. Stop at Devprayag Sangam. Reach Haridwar by 5 PM. Ganga aarti and departure.
