Quick answerA Force Urbania in Haridwar costs ₹32 per km on outstation trips and ₹6,500 for a local day of 8 hours and 80 km, plus a flat ₹300 per night driver allowance on outstation runs. It seats 13 or 17 seats, plus the driver and takes rear boot plus roof carrier — the same capacity as a tempo, loaded the same way. Booked direct from our own fleet — there is no aggregator commission inside these numbers.

Fares and road notes on this page reviewed July 30, 2026.

The Urbania is the one vehicle on our card where the case is entirely about the ride. A tempo traveller is built on a truck chassis; the Urbania is a monocoque, which in practice means it corners flat, absorbs the broken surface above Rudraprayag without throwing the back row around, and is quiet enough to hold a conversation in at highway speed. On a Haridwar airport transfer none of that matters much. On the ten-hour climb to Badrinath with fourteen people aboard it is the difference between a group that arrives ready to walk to the temple and one that arrives wanting a lie down. It costs roughly fifteen per cent more per kilometre than a 17-seat tempo for the same seats, and whether that is worth paying depends almost entirely on how long the route is.

What it costs

Force Urbania rate card, Haridwar

The four numbers that decide a hire bill — the day slab, the extra kilometre, the extra hour and the outstation per-km rate. Most operators publish the first and let you discover the other three.

VehicleSeats8 hr / 80 kmExtra kmExtra hourOutstation /km
Force Urbania17₹6,500₹34₹400₹32
Tempo Traveller 17-seat17₹5,500₹30₹350₹28

2026 season rates. The 8 hr / 80 km day is a slab, not a target — whichever limit you cross first starts the extras. Outstation trips add a flat ₹300 per night driver allowance; night running between 10 PM and 6 AM adds ₹300 to a local booking. Every one of these numbers is on the page before you book, which is the entire difference between us and a call-centre quote.

Who books it

What a Force Urbania is genuinely good for

Long hill circuits with a large group

Char Dham, Badrinath, the full Do Dham — anywhere the group is in the vehicle for eight hours a day, repeatedly.

Groups with senior travellers

The reason most people upgrade. A monocoque body over Uttarakhand hill surface is a genuinely different experience from a ladder frame.

Corporate and institutional bookings

Where the vehicle is part of what is being provided rather than just transport, and it shows.

Airport and station transfers for a large party

Delhi or Jolly Grant to Haridwar in one vehicle, with everyone arriving in the same state.

Before you book

When not to book a Force Urbania

Every operator will tell you what a vehicle does well. These are the cases where we would put you in something else, including the ones where that earns us less.

For a short transfer it is money spent on comfort you will not be in long enough to notice — a 17-seat tempo does a two-hour run just as well for meaningfully less.

We run fewer Urbanias than tempos, so peak-season availability is tighter. Book further ahead than you would for a tempo, particularly for May and June.

Ground clearance is lower than a tempo traveller. On a season with heavy landslide diversions above Sonprayag or Joshimath we will sometimes recommend the tempo instead, and that is not us upselling downwards for fun.

Green Card and trip permit as standard, and oxygen fitted above 2,500 m. The Urbania handles the Char Dham routes on the same permits as everything else we run — the difference is entirely in the ride, not the capability.

Eight of us, including my parents at 72 and 69. Palki was arranged for both at Kedarnath without any fuss. Ramesh bhai, our driver, was calm on roads that frightened me and knew every tea stop worth stopping at. Ground-floor rooms at every hotel, as promised.

The price I was quoted in February was the price I paid in May. After what I read about agent markups, that alone was worth it. Badrinath darshan was handled well and Tapt Kund before the 4:30 AM slot was something I will remember for a long time.

Priya MehtaPune · Do Dham 6N/7D · May 2026 Verified traveller

Three generations travelling together, and the pacing was right for all of us. Oxygen was on the vehicle and we needed it once, at Kedarnath, and it was there in under a minute. They arranged proper Tamil vegetarian food at two hotels on request, which I did not expect this far north.
